.
I love the season of spring especially in New England. Today is Sunday and the forecast is rain the whole day as well as being rainy and dreary it’s also cold outside with night time possibility to maybe even snow ?? WTF is this weather all about ? Well it’s weather of the Berkshires. It’s really like this all time . In New England if you don’t like the weather wait a few and it will change like magic. Its spring here its cold today but it s suppose to warm up as thew week progresses hopefully .
As per photography, I use a combination of my Fujifilm XT5 camera and Lumniar Neo to edit photos. What art do I wanna make this year, this season? I want to get really good at two things for sure landscape photography is at the top of the list for sure as well as making art with my editing software Luminar Neo, I also wanna get good at travel photography as well sort of a landscape type of photography telling stories of the places I wanna visit this Spring season inn New England. I know this year I want to get good at using lenses I rarely use due to lack of knowledge on how to use them. I have had this 10-18mm Canon EF-S ultra wide field camera lens made for crop sensor cameras. I have owned this lens for probably the better part of 15 years, but never really learned how to use it and or get really great photos from it . The glass is really good and it mates well with the 40 MP Fujifilm sensor no vignetting to speak of. Even all the way open at 10mm, this lens is made to utilize the crop sensor in a canon body so I think thats why I got such good results with an Canon EF-S lens on a Fujifilm body. Well I popped the 10-18mm ultra wide on the XT5 body with the Frindger adapter and took off to see if I could learn how to use this lens. The reason I have not used it is not a physical thing it just that I never really put the time into learning what to do with it and how works . So in my quest for great landscape photos. I have set out to learn how it get awesome landscapes and ultra wide scenes with this lens. So far how am I doing? Well it's an adventure for sure.
The first time out I took 75 photos and got no keepers at all, second time out I got 3 keepers out of 65 photos. Then I stopped and read on Meta AI what to do and how to use this lens. It’s not the lenses at all it is me and my lack of knowledge to use it to make wonderful photos. This lens has rules and things you must do to get really good photos from it. There is a moderately steep learning curve for sure. There are rules to follow and things to be done to get great photos from this dynamically different piece of glass for sure . I am motivated to learn how to use this lens and make awesome landscape photos with it.
Yesterday I took the XT5 and the 10-18mm for a walk. I have a created a few RAW files that are pretty good photos with great bones and possibility for when they are edited. I am gonna keep at it, keep learning and grow into this lens. Learn how to utilize its positives and avoid its negatives. I know when I really learn how to utilize this lens I know I will be able to create some awesome art for sure. I know it will open up a whole different range off images I can create as well a develop into grand landscapes for sure. Spring is a time of new growth so why not grow as an artist learn to utilize great new glass and develop and make new art in this season of spring in New England.
